Jalal'ud-din Firuz Khalji establishes the Khalji dynasty at Delhi.
Khilji dynasty was a muslims, conquests into the Hindu south, and for successfully fending off the repeated Mongol invasions of India.
This dynesty was succeeded by Tugalaq Dynesty in 1320
- 1659: Aurangzeb was declared the Emperor of Delhi. Aurangzeb Alamgir was the sixth Mughal Emperor and in his tenure of 49 years, he ruled over most of the Indian subcontinent.

- 1908: The Calcutta Stock Exchange Ltd. was incorporated, which consisted of 150 members. It was also granted permanent recognition by the Government of India.
- 1937: Anna Hazare was born. He is an Indian social activist who promoted rural development. Over the years, Anna Hazare has also conducted hunger strikes to further his causes of increasing government transparency and punishing corruption. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1992 and the Padma Shri in 1990.
- Hazare started a hunger strike on 5 April 2011 to exert pressure on the Indian government to enact a stringent anti-corruption law, The Lokpal Bill, 2011 as envisaged in the Jan lok pal, for the institution of an Ombusman with the power to deal with corruption in public places.

- 1947: All-India Congress accepted the British plan for the partition of India in New Delhi. It was also known as the Mountbatten Plan which was declared by the last Viceroy of India, Lord Mountbatten.
