History is not created in a day! But, a day can bring many changes in history. Following historical events that happened this day and changed the future course of the world.

1818: Maratha wars between British & Maratha Confederacy in India ended.

1.    In the year 1915, Rabindranath Tagore was conferred the prestigious Knighthood by the British Government. Do you know why British offered him knighthood???

The British wanted to recognizeTagore as a Knight, however, they were worried that he won't accept the same, especially because he was already a central political figure, playing a significant role in stopping the first partition of Bengal (by Lord Curzon).

Rabindranath Tagore had renounced the British knighthood in protest against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. ... The award that he did renounce, as a mark of protest against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar in 1919, was theknighthood bestowed upon him by the British.


2.    In the year 1938, Germany passed a law related to Entartete Art making art robbery legal. 


3.    In the year 1947, Lord Mountbatten released the 3 June Plan or Mountbatten Plan on partition of India. As per this plan The Independence Act of 1947 was implemented.

4.    In the year 1969, the final episode of Star Trek: The Original Series (Turnabout Intruder) was aired on NBC. 


5.    In the year 1972, INS Nilgiri, first India built modern-age warship, was commission in Indian Navy.


1972: First British -designed Indian-built modern warship of the Leander class, 'INS Nilgiri' was commissioned.

1984: Operation Blue Star, a military offensive, was launched by the Indian government at Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, the holiest shrine for the Sikhs, in Amritsar.

1998: The naval version of the surface-to-air missile, Trishul, wass test-fired in Kochi .

Trishul was part of DRDO.
